Ailstock, Jordan D., b. ca. 1832, Rockbridge County, Va. Pvt., Co. G, 11th Virginia Cavalry, CSA. Captured at Jack's Shop (near Madison, Va.), 9/22/1863. Sent to Old Capitol Prison and transferred to Pt. Lookout, Md. Took the oath of allegiance and enlisted in Co. E, 1st United States Volunteers ("Galvanized Yankees"), 5/1/1864; occupation: laborer, age 32, 5'10 1/4", light complexion, black hair, gray eyes. Corporal. D. Sep 25, 1865 (typhoid). Body removed from Ft. Rice cemetery and reburied here 3/6/1905. Left a widow and several children. In 1880, his widow applied for and received a pension for his U.S. service.
