Hallie Mae Sweet Haney, 99, of Clinton, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at the home of her daughter.
Born May 9, 1904, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of John Webster Sweet and Nancy Belle Duncan Sweet.Mrs. Haney was a lifelong resident of this area. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Batley Baptist Church. She served the church as the organist and pianist. Her hobbies included gardening and quilting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brance Haney; three sisters, Vesta Prosise, Stella Stooksbury and Ella Brown; and by two brothers, Clarence Sweet and Clifton Sweet.Mrs. Haney is survived by her daughter, Bertha Bridges and husband, Trent, of Clinton; two sons, Elmer Hayes Haney and wife, Mary, and Willard Haney and wife, Alma, all of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Debra Beldon, Loretta Sue Reed and Vivian Haga, all of Florida, Michael Haney of Georgia, Kathy Ellis of Clinton, Carol Townley of Deer Lodge and Redeana Haney of Knoxville; eight great-grandchildren, Josh Archer, Justin Ellis, Meghan Ellis, Chris Reed, Danielle Reed, Logan Haga, Blake Haga and Halle Beldon; and by her niece, Bonnie Haney, of Clinton, who she considered special.The funeral was to be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at Batley Baptist Church with the Rev. Luke Kidwell and the Rev. Howard Robbins officiating.Burial was to follow at Batley Baptist Church cemetery.Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Spring is in charge of arrangements
