Jay was the son of Walter Wesley Boykin and Carrie Mae Bennett. Siblings were Johnnie Ray, Billie Jean, Lela Mae, and Troy Wayne Boykin. Jay married Margaret Marie Musgrove and their children were brenda Lou and David Jay Boykin. Jay was a veteran of World War II.


CHILDRESS - W.J. Boykin, 76, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Sims, pastor of Westhill Community Church, and the Rev. Harold Moore, pastor of Tell Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home.


Mr. Boykin was born May 22, 1925, in Collingsworth County. He was a veteran of the Navy serving during World War II.


Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, David Boykin of Northfield; a daughter, Brenda Brown of Paducah; a brother, Troy Boykin of Childress; a sister, Mae Smothermon of Childress; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 14, 2002
