Galley was the son of James Brumfield Bias and Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' (Adkins) Bias.

Galley was not married.

He was murdered in 1922 by Arthur Vernatter, Arthur was convicted for the murder. Also implicated, but not convicted, was J. E. Vass.
