When thomas was five years old the family came to Larne, Ohio, where their mother passed away. When he was 16 years of age the family came to Mills County. Thomas stayed with the J.T. Skerritt family until he was 21, then he and his father farmed the Frizzell farm in the southwestern corner of Ingraham Township. Later he moved to the Skerritt farm two miles east of Silver City. His sister, Mary kept house for him until her death in 1935. Tom loved good horses and cattle and took great pride in raising them and his farming.
