Hester was born in Tennessee the daughter of Hugh Hill and Bertha (Lemarr) Lansden. She was the first of nine (9) children. She attended elementry school in Kentucky and high school at Knoxville Central High School in Tennessee. She met Earl D. in Montgomery, Alabama while he was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base. They were married July 23, 1943 in Atauga, Alabama. Not long after their marriage Hester brought Earl to Tennessee to meet her family. Earl immediately became a part of the Lansden family and was forever held in high esteem by all. To this union five (5) children were born.
