R. McCormick Passed In Napa

Rodney McCormick, prominently identified with the business life of Napa County for many years, passed away at his Napa home early Saturday.

Born in St. Helena on July 4, 1871, as the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Newton McCormick, he counted as his forebears some of the earliest settlers in the valley. His maternal grandparents were John and Lucinda York who crossed the plains in 1845 as members of the John Grigsby party. John York and his brother-in-law, David Hudson, arrived at what is now Calistoga in the same year and built the first two cabins in the upper valley.

During his business career Mr. McCormick was active in real estate, mining and farming. For many years he conducted the McCormick Real Estate firm in Napa.

Funeral services were held in Napa Monday morning with interment following in the St. Helena Public Cemetery.
