Eway Bowman Jr., 84, of Ooltewah, TN went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 14, 2010. He was a member of New Shepard Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Bowman served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Ooltewah Masonic Lodge #741. He was retired from the Hamilton County Highway Department.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Eway and Sallie Bowman Sr.; one daughter, Patsy Miller; one grandson, Travis Miller; several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Smith Bowman, of Ooltewah, TN; son, Fred (Margaret) Browning, of Birchwood, TN; three daughters, Donna (Tommy) Kirby, of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Kathy Ford, of Hixson, TN, and Reida Lunsford, of Ooltewah, TN; one brother, Henry Bowman, of Birchwood, TN; three, sisters, Margie Bettis, of Georgetown, TN, Lula Ford, of Birchwood, TN, and Vergie Peavyhouse, of McDonald, TN; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend and neighbors, Nelson, Carla and Melinda Baker.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Browning officiating.

Interment will follow in Ooltewah Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends today from 2-8 p.m. and on Wednesday up to the hour of service at the funeral home.
