MAUDE ACHENBACK FUNERAL SERVICES
Maude Mae Ogden was born May 3, 1880 in Mills County, Iowa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Ogden. She lived in Mills County and attended rural school as a girl. On January 29, 1909 she married Jacob Peter Achenbach and to this union three children were born, Oliver, Myrtle, and Margaret.
After several years of farming the Achenbachs operated a general merchandise store in Strahan. Mrs. Achenbach continued to operate the store for a few years after the death of her husband in 1939 and served as postmistress for 20 years.
She lived in Strahan until two years ago when she moved to Shenandoah. After being hospitalized for two major surgeries in June 1965, she lived with her daughter Myrtle. She died October 31, after several months of illness, attain the age of 95 years, 5 months, and 28 days.
Her patient ways, sense of humor, and vial interest in life were evident during her illness. Besides being devoted to her family and active in the Methodist Church, she was genuinely interested in her friends and the community.
She leaves to mourn her passing her three children, Oliver Achenbach, Myrtle Wekla, and Margaret Kinsey, all of Shenandoah, a brother, J. E. Ogden of Lexington, Nebraska, a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Mansfield Funeral Home in Malvern, Thursday, November 3, with interment in the Malvern Cemetery.
