Dora C. Phillips of Deerfield, SD, died May 23, 1947, in a Rapid City hospital. She was born Dora C. Spohnholtz on July 22, 1888, in Dundee Township, IL. She was educated there, and worked at the Elgin watch factory before her marriage to Walter K. Phillips on December 20, 1913.
The couple came to South Dakota and engaged in ranching near Deerfield, where they lived for 33 years.
She is survived by her husband Walter Phillips, one son Russell E. Phillips, Rapid City; two brothers, Albert Spohnholtz, Elgin, IL, and Harold F. Spohnholtz, Mill Valley, California; three sisters, Mrs. K.D. Stewart, and Mrs. J.R. Gallagher, both of Eglen, IL, and Mrs. Francis Unruh,m Dundee, IL. She is also survived by one granddaugher, Yvonne Ruth Phillips, Rapid City, SD.
She was preceded in death by one son, Robert.
Funeral services were held in Hill City, and burial in the Hill City Cemetery under the direction of Hobart Funeral Chapel.
