Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2010 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in St. Cloud, for William Curtis Baker, who died on Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 18th at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud and also after 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the church in St. Cloud. VFW Post 4847 will have a ritual at 6:30 p.m. followed by St. Augustine's parish prayers at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home in St. Cloud. Reverend Anthony Oelrich will officiate and burial with full military honors will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
William was born to the late Lynn and Adeline (Bauer) Baker in St. Cloud and was the oldest of eight brothers. He married Marion Nielsen on August 8, 1953 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He lived in St. Cloud all his life and was a manager of MV Gas Company for 48 years until his retirement in 1999. William was a life member of VFW Post 4847 and a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church. He loved fishing, baking, and especially spending time with his grandchildren, and visiting with his nephews and nieces.
William is survived by his wife, Marion; sons, Jim (Mary) of Grand Rapids, MN, Mike (fiancé Michelle Alger) of St. Cloud, Duane (fiancé Jean Lydeen) of St. Cloud, and Roger (fiancé Rebecca Crohn) of St. Cloud; brothers, Dave (Kathy) of Alexandria, Ron (Phyllis) of Sartell, Kenneth (Mickie) of Fridley, Sam (Sherri) of Blaine, Steve (Jenny) of St. Cloud, and Dan (Debbie) of St. Cloud; and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert.
Memorials are preferred.
