She grew up in Easley and attended the schools there. Mrs. Adams was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and received a Masters Degree from Cornell University. She was a retired science and chemistry teacher and taught at Andrews High School and St. Stephen's Academy for a number of years.
Mrs. Adams was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and attended First Baptist Church of Andrews. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution chapters in both Georgetown and Kingstree, the S. C. Historical Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are: her husband, Herbert H. Adams of Andrews; a daughter, Louise A. Byrdic and her husband Billy of Andrews; a brother, the Rev. George Walter Couch, Jr. of McClellanville; two granddaughters, Stephanie Byrdic of Myrtle Beach and Wyndie Byrdic of Pawleys Island; and a grandson, Will Byrdic of Charleston.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Saturday morning, December 23, 2006, at First Baptist Church of Andrews. Officiating will be the Rev. Donald P. Sapp. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
