He was born on Dec. 18, 1916, in Rappahannock and was a son of the late Homer C. and Lavinia Atkins.
He is survived by a son, Sammy Atkins and a caregiver, Goldie W. Viands of Front Royal. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Atkins.
Burial was in the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
