Everett H. Pigg of Okeana, Ohio, was born on July 31, 1916 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, the son of the late George H. and Melda J. (nee Estridge) Pigg. In Kentucky, he worked as a miner, teamster, and steam generator operator from 1929 to 1936. Everett moved to Hamilton, Ohio in 1936 with his first wife of 52 years, Margaret (nee Grady) Pigg and she preceded him in death. He worked at Champion Paper for 41 ½ years. In 1946, Everett and Margaret moved to Okeana, Ohio, where he lived on his farm for 64 years. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army in the Pacific Theater. Everett enjoyed his family, neighbors, friends, gardening, and storytelling about his early life growing up in Kentucky. He passed away February 18, 2010, leaving his second wife of 18 years, Freda May (nee Colgate) Pigg of Okeana, OH; and four living generations: children: John D. and wife Sue Pigg of Okeana, OH, Barbara J. Vanlandingham of Waco, TX and James E. and wife Norma Pigg of Covina, CA; seven grandchildren: Amy, Becca, Caroline, Pamela, Phillip, Brock and Janice; six great grandchildren: Josh, Shannon, Jason, Grace, Mason, Addison and Michael; six great great grandchildren: Alexis, Ashley, Bailey, Hayden, Hayley and Rieland; and 52 nieces and nephews. Everett was also preceded in death by his son: George J. Pigg; and seven sisters: Isabell, Martha, Rebeca, Eliza, Hallie, Sallie and Frona. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 11am on Monday, February 22, 2010, with Pastor Joe Tassell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2-5pm at the funeral home.
