Former County Aide Dies
CALISTOGA — Charles Tamagni, longtime resident of Calistoga, died here this morning.
Aged 97 years, 6 months, 3 days
Mr. Tamagni suffered a broken hip, resulting from a fall Wednesday evening at Calistoga Convalescent Hospital, where he made his home for the past year and one-half. Until that time, he had been in good health, according to his family.
Charles Tamagni was well known in Napa County. He was on the Napa County Board of supervisors for 32 years (1922 to 1955), retiring at the age of 84. A native of Switzerland, he came to the United States when he was 17 years old—moving to California a few years later.
The former supervisor came to the Calistoga area as a very young man, living here until death.
He was a member of Calistoga Rotary Club, and attended meetings until two years ago. He was a member of Calistoga Lodge and received his 50 year pin several years ago. Mr. Tamagni also was a member of Royal Lodge of Napa.
Five of his 10 children survive him, including: Three sons, Alvin, Harry and Walter; plus two daughters Emma Wolleson and Evelyn Snodgrass—all of Calistoga.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Simic Funeral Home.
