Emma Eileen Batman Griffin, 93 of Batman Hill Rd., Luray died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at MontVue Nursing Home.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1928, in Luray and was a daughter of the late James Franklin Batman and Eva Earle Judd Batman.
Mrs. Griffin attended the Rocky Branch Regular Baptist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star.

On Aug. 31, 1962, she married Ray Clarence Griffin, who died on March 7, 1990. She is survived by a son, Steven E. Atkins and wife Brenda Atkins of Luray; a daughter, Debra A. Sanders and husband James Sanders of Stephens City; a sister, Elsie C. Spitler of Luray; three granddaughters, Melissa Eileen Bronaugh and husband Jeffery Bronaugh of Ashburn, Emily Mae Bielen and husband Matthew Bielen of Miami, Fla. And Michelle Carol Shropshire and husband Scott Stropshire of Fredericksburg; and four great grandchildren, Kendall O. and Patrick J. Bronaugh of Ashburn and Emma M. and Macy K. Shropshire of Fredericksburg. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard E. and James F. Batman Jr.; and two sisters, Louise Batman and Annie Mary Atkins.

Burial in the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
