Black Hawk Vet Dies at Provo
PROVO, Utah, August 9 - (Special) - Taps was sounded Friday by the Blackhawk Indian War encampment for Jonathan M Platt, who died Wednesday evening at the family residence in Mona. He was born in England, October 19, 1844, and had lived in Mona for the last 60 years. He crossed the plains three times, once in 1863 and then later going back twice for emigrants.
Surviving Mr. Platt are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Charles Orgill, Mona, John M. Platt of Nevada. Twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grand children also survive the war veteran and pioneer.
Friends may view the body at the home of Mr. Charles Orgill, prior to the funeral services which are to be held Sunday at 1 p. m. in the Mona ward chapel. />~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
