JOHN H. FALLON LAID TO REST

The mortal remains of Harry Fallon were laid to rest Saturday morning in the local cemetery after requiem high mass and an impressive sermon by Father Galowitsch at the Catholic church. The funeral was largely attended, many friends of the departed having came considerable distance to pay their last respects.

Among the relatives of the family from out of the state who were here to attend the funeral were Clancey [Albert] Fallon of Bemidji, MN, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Kinnamon of Grinell, Iowa and son Wm. Kinnamon of Waukon, Iowa; Mrs. W. K. Lyman and Mrs. Leo Peyton of Ortonville, MN; Wm. Lyman and sister, Mrs. Herbert Luria of Chicago.

The pall bearers were Al Mracheck Sr., G. V. Weber, Arthur Johnsen and J. H. McGarry of Alexander, Wm. Moo of Rawson and Gilbert Johnson of Williston.

John H. Fallon was born May 4, 1883 at Graceville, Minnesota, and died Sept. 21, 1937 at Alexander, N.D., aged 54 years, 4 months and 17 days. He spent his early life in and around Graceville and in 1900 graduated from St. Mary's high school in that city. He also graduated from Archibald's Business college, Minneapolis, MN in 1902.

He came to McKenzie county in 1908 and resided on land two miles north of Alexander on which he filed his homestead entry amd which he still owned at the time of his death. He was the first rural mail carrier from the Alexander post office having taken up this work on Route 1 when it was established in 1911.

In 1910 he was married at Graceville, Minnesota to Miss Laura Lyman and to this union two sons were born, Lyman of Alexander and another son who died in infancy about 14 years ago.

He was appointed postmaster at Alexander in 1912 and held this position until 1924 after which he was again appointed a rural mail carrier which position he held at the time of his death.

In 1918 he and his brother-in-law, M. A. Kinnamon, engaged in the hardware business in Alexander. June 2nd, 1924 the deceased bought out the interest of Mr. Kinnamon, and conducted the store until 1929 at which time he sold the business. He later, in association with Marshall-Wells Co. resumed operation of this store with his son, Lyman, in active management.

During his active life in Alexander he had served as a member of the school board of Alred district, and as a member of the village council. He was recorder and treasurer of the local AOUW lodge from its organization in 1914 until his death. He was also a member of the local Catholic church choir from its organization in 1912 until his recent illness. He was a member of the Williston Council of the Knights of Columbus.

Besides his wife and son, Lyman, he is survived by two brothers, Clancey of Bemidji, MN and Ben of Hollywood, California, also a little granddaughter, born to his son, Lyman and wife, on the day of his death.

In the death of Harry fallon, Alexander and community have lost a valuable and hightly respected citizen.
