Vera Lucille Hood Gill

Funeral services for Vera Lucille Hood Gill, age 91, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Bailey Mortuary Chapel, Springhill, LA with Emerson Banack, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary.
Mrs. Gill, a native of Sarepta, LA died at Chandlers Estates in San Antonio, TX on Sunday, January 31, 2010. She was a retired school teacher and homemaker. She was a member of Rainbow Hills Baptist Church in Castroville, TX and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ben Cameron Gill, on December 5, 1989; by her parents, Ellis Claiborne and Ocie Bama Hood; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lorene Slack and niece, Lois Slack.
She is survived by her daughters, Rose Marie Banack and husband, Emerson Banack, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; Deborah Ann Queen and husband, John Thomas Queen, Jr. of Castroville, TX; grandchildren, Trey Banack; Courtney Elizabeth Schultz and husband, Chris Lynn Schultz; Shelby Brianna Queen of Washington, DC; John Thomas Queen, III and wife, Naomi Jozovich, of Boulder, CO; great-grandchildren, Ramsey Marie Schultz and McKinsey Schultz; nephews, Bobby Wayne Slack, Danny Robert Slack and wife, Fritzy; great-nieces, Kelly Michelle Garland and husband, Thomas; Penny Lane Burt and husband, Marty; and great-great-nieces, Ericha Burt and Caroline Garland.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Queen, Jr., John Thomas Queen III, Thomas Garland, Marty Burt, Trey Banack and Danny Slack.
The family will receive friends at Bailey Mortuary from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 6, 2010.
