He was born April 27, 1913, in Jefferson County, Mo., to August and Frances Grab Henke. He lived in California, where he was a pipefitter and air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic for Los Angeles County before he retired in 1972.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church and a 52-year member of Local No. 250 of the Pipefitters Union in Los Angeles.
He married Hazel Thornton on May 29, 1939, in St. Louis. She died March 24, 1976. He married Mary Katherine Coleman on June 18, 1977, in Collinsville, Ill. She died in 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd F. Henke II, Burbank, Calif., and Ronald Henke, Roach; two stepdaughters, Catherine Ann Jones, Kansas City, Mo., and Carolyn Tillotson, Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, August Henke, Lake St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Evelyn Hartman, St. Louis; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
