Thomas Robert Asa, Sr. was the son of Edward Clay Asa Sr. and Maria Louisa Davis. He married Blanche E. Bernal on 19 Nov 1891 in Nashville, TN. They had five children;

1) Thomas Robert "Bob" Asa, Jr. (1892-1924)
2) Jayn Louise Asa-Allison (1894-1975)
3) John Bernal ASA (1897-1897)
4) Alyce Asa - Maynard - Jolley (1898-1960)
5) Barton D. Asa (1904-1955)

T. R. Asa Sr. had a printing company in Chattanooga named the Asa Printing Company located on Cherry Street.

Thomas R. Asa, 63, formerly head of the Asa Printing company, died at his residence in the Berkley apartment last night at 10:45, following a stroke of apoplexy suffered Monday.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Barton D. Asa; two daughters, Mrs. J. T. Allison, this city, and Mrs. D. J. Maynard, of Knoxville; two sisters, Mrs. J. W. Baker, New Philadelphia, O., and Mrs. H. J. Holmes, of Memphis.
He was a member of the Highland Park Methodist Episcopal church, south, also a member of Park Lodge, Knights of Pythias. The body was removed to Wann's and prepared for burial. Complete arrangements for the funeral. Which will be held Monday, will be announced later.
