MUNNSVILLE — Janis E. Campanaro Simchick, 71, of Middle Road, was taken by angels to the home of the Lord Sunday morning, with her loving family by her side. She courageously battled cancer and is to be with God gracefully.

Born in Oneida on Sept. 9, 1938, she was a daughter of Alphonse and Jennie C. Carneval Campanaro. A lifelong resident of the area, Janis attended Oneida High School.

Janis was previously employed by TOPS Friendly Markets as a clerk and was the TV hostess at the former Oneida City Hospital for twenty-five years.

Janis enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had a great love for her animals, Bella and Izzy. She was a bird enthusiast and was also a homemaker, babysitter, and enjoyed knitting, going to garage sales and ceramics. Janis was involved in various activities including being a member of the Home Bureau, the Cancer Survivor Group, St. Joseph's Senior's Group and various church activities. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

Janis will be missed by many as she was a true and loyal friend to all. The hearts she has touched and the special memories she has endowed will be cherished.

Surviving are her adoring family; four sons and daughters-in-law, William A. and Maryann Henry of Florida, Scott F. and Diana Henry of Oneida, Craig S. and Wendy Henry of Sherrill and Tracy P. and Stacey Henry of Verona, all of whom she loved and cherished; six beautiful grandchildren, Chad Henry, Cori and Clare Henry, Troy Henry and step grandchildren, Lindsey and Jamie Noble, to whom she was known as "Grandma Dollie;" her lovely brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Marsha Campanaro of Oneida Castle; her devoted, caring and loving sister, Cindy Stashefski of Oneida; one aunt, Antoinett Crisafulli of Oneida; cousin, Elizabeth Carnevale of Oneida; her lovely nephews, Jeffery and Kyle Campanaro of Oneida and her dearest friends, Joann Behr, Dee Tubbs, Elsie Agan and many more close friends. She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Michael Stashefski.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on the fourth floor at Oneida Healthcare Center who so lovingly cared for their loving mom, Grandma Dollie, sister and aunt.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Joseph's Church, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Kapral, pastor.

Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc. 260 Main Street, Oneida, on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. Contributions, in Janis's memory, may be made to the St. Joseph's Memorial Development Fund, 121 St. Joseph's Place, Oneida, NY 13421 or to the Oneida Healthcare Center Foundation, PO Box 705, Oneida, NY 13421
