Thomas Williams Howell was born in a small town in Northern Michigan. After losing his mother at a very young age(1 year old). He grew up working in the shingle mills along side his father Ezra C. Howell and uncle Theodore Commodore Howell.
He played baseball for the team and his nickname was "Homerun Tommy".
He met his wife Elma McArthur in 1918 just before he was drafted for World War I. They married right before he left for boot camp.When he returned from the war, he and Elma moved to a small town on the outskirts of Lansing. There they had three children. Clara, Thomas and Barbara.
Thomas only lived to be 39 years old. He was in and out of hospitals for the last three years of his life.
