Mary Jo was in the US Navy from 1958 to 1961. She settled in the Washington DC area, taking accounting jobs with the railroad and later Harvey's 'Restaurant of the Presidents'. Her final and favorite job was with the Arlington County Fire Department where she was the Equipment Manager for all the firefighters. They became "her boys". Her unit was the first responders at the Pentagon on 9/11. The fire department honored her with a beautiful service, fire truck motorcade and police escort to Arlington National Cemetery where she is interred.
