Alvie J. Armstrong, 73, of Templeton RD2, died Saturday, afternoon June 1, 1974, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Born September 9, 1900, in Washington Township, he was the son of John and Maude (Roofner) Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was a charter member of the Templeton Church of God. He had retired in 1966 from Harbinson Walker Refractories Division of Dresser Industries, Inc. of Templeton. Survivors include sons, James, Templeton RD1, and John, Kittanning RD2; daughters, Mrs. Scott (Jane) Lewis of Erie and Mrs. William (Kay) Cousins of Templeton RD1; sisters, Mrs. Norabelle McCullough, Mrs. Louella Slagle, Mrs. Margaret Shunk, all of Templeton, Mrs. Gertrude Snyder of Natrona Heights, Mrs. Jean Himmer of Pittsburgh; and 14 grandchildren. His wife Margaret Sarah died in 1963. Friends are being received at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral home, Kittanning where service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Officiating will be the Rev. J. C. Himes assisted by the Rev. C. Richard Main of the Templeton Church of God. Burial will be in Stewardson Furnace Cemetery. Leader Times, Kittanning 6/3/1974
