MRS JESSE SHEPHARD
Elizabeth May daughter of Samuel G. and Mary Jane Reed, was born May 7, 1887 in Abilene, and died on May 28, 1954 at her home, 304 Southwest Second street, Abilene, at the age of 67 years and 21 days.
Elizabeth May Reed and Jesse LeRoy Shephard were married December 12, 1905. A daughter, Thelma, was born.
Mrs. Shephard was one to whom others turned naturally for kindly help in every time of need. She was a mother to a niece, Mrs. L. G. Hays.
The mother, father and four brothers have preceded Mrs. Shephard in death. She is survived by the husband; the daughter Thelma, Mrs. C. O. Baker; a brother Robert R. Reed; the grandsons, Eldon and Norman Hartman and Charles Baker Jr.; nieces, nephews, and many friends. One close friend Mrs. Ida Osterman of California has written a tribute to be read as a part of the memorial service.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1, at the Danner Funeral home with the Rev. Ernest Hull in charge. Mrs. Russell Worman was at the organ and Mrs. Wayne Gugler sang, :Beautiful Isle of Somewhere: and "Abide with Me." Burial was in the Abilene cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Wilson; Lawrence Wilson, Charles Wilson, Frank Garten, Clarence Garten and Grover Markley
