Maria Morrison Shephard

Maria Morison Page, daughter of James and Lestina Page, was born in Caladona county, Vermont, on February 3, 1857, and departed this life at Memorial hospital on November 26, 1931 at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 22 days. She moved with her parents from Vermont to Wisconsin, staying there for awhile, then moving to a Kansas homestead a mile east of Elmo in the year 1869.

She was united in marriage to Alfred Robert Shephard on January 13, 1875. To this union two children were born, Walter Wilburn Shephard of Hope; and Jesse Leroy Shephard of Abilene. She leaves to mourn her departure her dear husband and companion of these more that 50 years, two sons, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She united with the First Methodist church in the year 1885 and has been a faithful member attending church as long as she was able.

Funeral services from the home on November 29, Rev. E. F. Buck conducting and interment was in the Abilene cemetery.
