Aged 26 years.
Son of Louis Vernon & Caroline Christine Cooper Mattingly.

Died at the General Hospital in Kansas City of Spanish Flu while serving with the US Army as a Pvt. and a nurse. He registered for the World War I draft at Miami County, KS. on 6-1-1917. Stated he was a medical student, married and claimed exemption from the draft because he was supporting his father. He was described as being tall and slender with blue eyes and light brown hair.
