WINNSBORO — James Ralph Weston, 83, of Scroggins, formerly of Winnsboro, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, in Winnsboro.

A graveside service has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, in Meadow Brook Cemetery in Paris with Rev. Bill Hardage officiating.

The family was to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at Beaty Funeral Home, 816 Broadway in Winnsboro.

He was born July 12, 1926, in Antlers, Okla., to the late Adam Lee Weston and Sarah Stephens Watson. He worked as a trouble shooter in the printing industry and married Mrs. Robbie Jo Townsend on June 5, 1948. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on Nov. 1, 1945, his junior year of high school. He served two tours in Europe in World War II with the 84th Infantry Division, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

After returning, he finished high school at Soper High School in Soper, Okla., in 1947. He was a member of Clearwater Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Robbie Jo Weston of Scroggins; son and daughter-in-law, James David and Melinda Weston of Sunnyvale; daughters and son-in-law, Deborah Lynn and Otis Payne of Lone Oak and Cathy Diane Yates of Coppell; one brother; one sister; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are to be Christopher Loggins, Tyler Ballard, Randy Weston, Otis Payne, Shawn Slaton and Ernie Barker.

If desired, memorials are to be made to the East Texas Hospice or the American Breast Cancer Society.
