Born in Greenville County, he was the husband of Alene Owens Cooper and a son of the late John and Ada Elizabeth Morgan Cooper.
Mr. Cooper served in the United States Army for 25 years and was retired from Saco Lowell.
He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Mylene Winchester, and husband, Mark, of Easley; a brother, John Calvin Cooper of Easley; and three granddaughters, Nicole Bowers, Chelsea Winchester, and Tiffany Winchester.
Mr. Cooper was predeceased by a daughter, Shary Cooper.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, with burial in Graceland West Cemetery.
Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, before the service, at the funeral home.
The family will be at the residence.
