GEORGETOWN--Mrs. Laura Haber Layton, 76, wife of former Chief Justice Daniel J. Layton Sr. died yesterday at her home in Georgetown.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and of St. Agnes Chapter of the Altar Guild.
Daughter of the late Joseph and Amanda Schimpf, she is survived in addition to her husband, by two sons, U. S. District Judge Caleb R. Layton III, Wilmington, and Daniel J. Layton Jr., Rehoboth Beach; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be private at the request of the family at St. Paul's Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. David B. Mulford, rector of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in the adjoining churchyard.
