Jemima Ann Austin is the daughter of Miles Austin born in Ireland and Nancy Sled of Powhatan, Virginia. She was born in Lynchburg, Campbell Co., Virginia.

She married, had a daughter in Virginia and was then widowned all before 1871. On August 2, 1871 she married the farmer Benjamin Augustus Duncan in Mason County, West Virginia. They had a son in 1872 that they named Charles Walter Duncan.

The census of 1880 reports that Ben is still farming and that the family is living in Cooper, Mason Co. West Virginia. She has been reported as being buried in Ambrosia and it is believed but not proved that she now rests with her husband in the Brighton Cemetery.
