Frederick Manson Bailey was the Colonial Botanist in Queensland from 1881 to 1915.
Earlier he was appointed by the Queensland Government as botanist to investigate the cause of diseases affecting livestock and plants. He collected plant specimens all over Queensland and in British New Guinea and significantly was involved in the naming and classification of eucalypts. The Queensland Herbarium holds many of Bailey's specimens.
