A native of Childersburg, "T.C." was a graduate of Alabama College - The University of Montevallo, where he was a member of The Sigma Club - Theta Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a teacher in the Jefferson County School System for 13 years. His last assignment was as a science teacher at Crumbley Chapel Elementary School. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Boyd Smith, also an educator, an assistant professor at Jacksonville State University; his parents, James O. and Jessie Smith; sister, Deborah Smith Ross and husband Jim; brother, Stewart Smith and wife, Rita; and loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was also loved by many students and friends. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Childersburg. His funeral was held on June 13, at Southern Heritage Funeral Home.
