Richard Benton, 88, of Clift Street, Butler, formerly of Worthington, died Saturday, March 19, 1994, at his residence.
He was born March 22, 1905 in West Winfield to William A. and Nannie (Claypoole) Benton.
Mr. Benton retired from U.S. Steel Company in Youngstown in 1970. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Worthington.
Survivors include his wife, Flora (Kerr) Benton whom he married May 4, 1926; a son Richard Benton of Santa Maria, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. James (Lenore) Henry of Harrisville and Mrs. Duane (Barbara) Scherich of Worthington; a sister, Virginia Wyle of Worthington; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Benton, and a sister, Wilma McKee.
BENTON - Friends of Richard Benton, 88, of Clift Street, Butler, who died March 19, 1994 will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington. Friends will also be received at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Worthington on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Hazel Callahan officiating. Burial will take place in the Worthington Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements by Snyder.
