Duane William Ranney age 69, died January 28, 2002 while visiting his daughter and family at Aline, Oklahoma. The son of Harry and Magdalena Veverka Ranney, he was born October 14,1932 at Concordia. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. On March 24, 1957, he was united in marriage to Hazel M. Cochran at Delphos. All their married life was spent farming in the Delphos community.
He was a member of the Delphos United Methodist Church where he served on the Pastor Parish Relations committee, was a former member of the Administrative Council and a Trustee. He was also a member of the Clark-Conde American Legion Post at Delphos, a former school board member and served on the Ottawa County Extension Council.

Survivors include his wife Hazel of the home; three daughters, Penny and her husband Lyle Shipley of Aline, Oklahoma, Linda and her husband Robert Aylward of Solomon, and Diane and her husband David Schklar of Thompson's Station, Tennessee; two sisters, Deloros Atwell of Minneapolis and Madelon Hardy of Delphos; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandchild.

The family friends from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 31 at the Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis. The funeral is February 1, at the Delphos United Methodist Church at
2 p.m. Rev. Kelly Sipes will officiate. Interment will be in the Delphos Cemetery with a military committal service.
The family suggests memorials to the Delphos United Methodist Church.
