William "Bill" Bryon Worthington, 85, of Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 12:03 pm at Sunny Acres Nursing Home.
He was born on May 12, 1924 in Springfield, IL to Bryon and Edith Clary Worthington. He married Ruth Sapp in 1981.
He is survived by a step daughter, Linda Oxford of Springfield, one step grandchild and one step great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister.
Mr. Worthington graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor degree in business administration. He worked for the State of Illinois for many years and retired from the Department of Revenue. He was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Springfield. Bill was a WWII Air Force veteran and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
