Susan Jane [Burgess] Windle was the daughter of Robert Henry Burgess and Caroline Paralee [McCord] Burgess and 2nd wife of Robert L. Windle. Susan's father as family history states was bushwached in 1857. Sometime after that, Susan's mother, Paralee Caroline remarried to a Robertson/Robinson and was living in Phelps Co, MO in 1870. In 1880, Caroline was in Maries Co, MO. In 1900, Paralee was living in Washington Co, AR with a grandson, Francis Marion Blackwell. She was 72 years old. It is not known when she died or where she is buried. It is believed she was of the Cherokee Tribe and possibly returned to her Tribe in Oklahoma. It was told by family members that Caroline smoked a pipe and had a mean nature. Susan's sister, Elizabeth Caroline Blackwell and Robert Henry Burgess Jr. are both buried in the Kenner Cemetery.
