Mr. Masten taught first in the Dodson Schools, then for a number of years was on the Quail faculty. He moved to Canyon in the summer of 1971. Since August of this year he had lived at Walcott.
He was born at Wellington September 15, 1936 and lived here as a child. Later the family lived for a number of years in the Morton area before returning here. A graduate of West Texas State University with both bachelors and masters degrees, he had done extensive post graduate work both in Texas and in New York.
He was a member of the Lions Club at Walcott and a former member at Quail, and he belonged to First Baptist Church at Hereford.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Masten of Walcott; a daughter, Saundra Masten of Amarillo; two step-daughters, Melinda Masten and Anjani Masten of Walcott; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Masten; a sister, Mrs. Patricia Conway of Woerdsburg, Germany and a brother, Verdel Masten of San Antonio.
