Mr. Louis Arnold Morris was born February 19, 1908, a native Georgian, attended Georgia Tech, and lived in the Atlanta area most of his life. He retired from the Federal Government after 36 years.

He passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009 and was 101 years of age.

Mr. Morris began his career with the F. W. Woolworth Company in Atlanta. He served five years with the war department's Corps of Embarkation at N. Charleston, SC, helping with the World War II effort with a classified status. He returned to Atlanta to work for the Federal Works Agency as architect/engineer, and later in his career, worked for the Dept. of Housing & Urban Development in Atlanta, as an Architect and Building Inspector.

His last three year employment was with the Labor Relations Department in Georgia and Florida. He was one of only two men in Georgia, retaining their job status by the Federal Government at the age of 70 during the term of Richard Nixon. Mr. Morris served as President of AFGE-Local #1568 for five years, member of Nat'l Assoc of Retired Employees, DeKalb County Stamp Club of Decatur, GA, Emeritus Member of Yaarab Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Atlanta, GA, member of Arab Guard, Grant Park Chapter #45, Kirkwood Chapter #58, R.A.M., Grand Commandery Knight Templar of GA #9, and Morningside Lodge #295.

He lived in the Atlanta/Decatur area most of his life attending Kirkwood Baptist Church; Briarcliff Baptist Church with Pastor Glenn Waldrop, long time pastor and now retired; and lastly, Rehoboth Baptist Church.

He married Vera Annette Anderson of Kite, GA, in 1934, and they were together until she died April 21, 1994, almost 60 years! During the last few years, he lived at Del Mar Gardens, an independent living facility in Lawrenceville, GA.

Surviving are three daughters Martha Louise McLendon, Gloria Jean Mullins, Margaret M. Bokros, six grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, all live in Metro Atlanta.

Funeral services will be held at in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, June 10th. Interment, Decatur Cemetery.

Mr. Morris would like to leave this thought: "If a person lives to be very old, let him rejoice in every day." Eccl. 11: 7-8
