Businessman and politician. Rainach was born William Odom in Kentwood, Louisiana. In 1917, his mother died, and he was placed in a Baptist children's home. He was adopted by Alfred and Hannah Rainach of Summerfield, Louisiana. Rainach excelled in school and was a graduate of Summerfield High School. He attended Southern State College (Southern Arkansas University), Strayer's Business College, and Louisiana State University. Rainach established Claiborne Electric Co. in 1939 and Claiborne Butane in 1945. He served as a Democratic State Representative from 1940-1948 and as a State Senator from 1948-1960. In 1959, Rainach made an unsuccessful attempt to run for governor. After his failed run as governor, Rainach never ran for office again. During his life, Rainach received many honors. These include the "Americanism Award" from the Young Americans for Freedom and "Man of the Year" from the Lions Club. Cause of death: self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head
