MINARD BECK, 80, DIED WEDNESDAY
Native of Germany, Was Long Time Resident of Charleston Township
Minard Heck of Charleston township, living near Galesburg, died Wednesday morning at Bronson hospital. He was born in Germany so years ago, but had lived here 65 years. He is survived by his widow, six daughters, Mrs. Emma Garrison, Mrs. Elizabeth Modderman, both of Kalamazoo; Mrs. Minnie Westrick of Chicago; Mrs. Ella Newton of Galesburg; Mrs. Catherine Edgett, Big Rapids; and Mrs. Margaret Stearns of Woodland; five sons, Charles, Albert and Fred, near Galesburg; John of Delton; and Frank of Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M.. Friday, at Galesburg. Augusta Beacon April 17 1941 page 1

Midard Beck, 80, died Wednesday morning, April 16th, 1941, in Bronson Hospital„ Kalamazoo where he had been taken, the Tuesday before, suffering from a heart attack. HE was born in Germany in 1861 and came to this country when 15 years of age. In 1887 he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Vogel of Kalamazoo who survives him. They have spent most of their life on farms in Charleston township moving to Galesburg five years ago on account of failing health. Besides his wife, he leaves six daughters and five sons, Charles of Scotts, Fred and Albert of Kalamazoo, John of Delton, and Frank of Marshall, Mrs. Emma Garrison, Mrs. Elizabeth Modderman of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Minnie Westrick of Chicago, Mrs. Ella Newton. Galesburg, Mrs. Catherine Edgett of Big Rapids, and Mrs. Margaret Sterns of Woodland and twenty-two grandchildren. Mr. Beck was a fine character. a loving husband and father, a kind neighbor, respected by all who knew him. His genial ways and kindly spirit made many friends where ever he went. Funeral services were held Friday at two p. m. at the Wagar and Clark Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph H Wilson of the Galesburg Methodist Church officiating.
