William Monroe Crowder was the son of Green H. Crowder and Mary Ann Vaughn. He was one of nine children born to his parents.
William Monroe was first married Nancy Jane Lisk on July 22, 1866 in Putnam Co., Tennessee. Their children were: Leonzo J & Lorenzo J. (twins), John Franklin, William Green "Bill", Orlena L "Lena", Mary Lougene "Louise Jean" Crowder. All these children were born in Tennessee. I am not sure if Nancy Jane Crowder died in Tennessee or on their way to Texas in 1881. [Per a descendant of Mary Lougene, Nancy Jane Lisk died Aug 22, 1882 but did not know where].
By 1883 they are in Parker County, Texas as William Monroe married a widow lady, Grace Helena Ligar Levey, widow of George Levey. They married September 23, 1883 in Weatherford, Parker Co., Texas. Grace had one child, Grace Levey (b.1866 in Australia- d.1938 Texas) William Monroe and Grace had 4 children, Claude Cleveland & Charles Henry (twins), Robert Edward and Hattie Ann Margaret Crowder.
William Monroe served in the Confederate Army under General Hood for four years. After coming to Texas, he lived in Parker County in the Dicey Community on the Clear Fork. He lived to be 90 years of age.
