Ivan Lawrence Reeder
Funeral services for Ivan Lawrence Reeder, 79, were held Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Ivan L. Reeder Auditorium at Depew High School. Interment followed at Stroud City Cemetery with services under the direction of Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home of Bristow.
Reeder was born Dec. 28, 1923 to David and Minnie (Seabolt) Reeder of Milfay and died Aug. 21, 2003 in Tulsa.
He was a graduate of Milfay High School and was married to Molly Ailey in Depew Oct. 15, 1942. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he served three years in the Pacific and European theaters of war. When he returned home, he enrolled at Central State College and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He received his Master's degree in business administration education from Oklahoma State University.
Reeder began his career at Depew schools in 1949 as a business teacher and coach. The following year he was high school principal and coach. One year later he was employed as superintendent of Depew schools where he remained until his retirement.
He served as superintendent of Depew schools for 44 years, was a civic leader and was named Depew Citizen of the Year in 2001.
Reeder was a member of the teacher's organization OEA, NEA, OREA, the American Association of School Administrators and the School Business Administration.
He was a member of Depew First Baptist Church for 54 years and served as their treasurer for 37 years and had a perfect attendance record of 35 years until his illness.
He served as a director of Depew Central Oklahoma Bank for 35 years, was treasurer of the Depew Lion's Club for 37 years and was a director of the Creek County Conservation District for 24 years. Other boards he served on were: the Bristow Memorial Hospital, Executive Board of Central Care Cooperation, Oklahoma Economic Development and the Auditing Committee of the Cimarron Baptist Association. In addition, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Preceding him in death are his parents, two brothers, three sisters and one grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Molly; two sons, Ronald Reeder and his wife, Judith of Tulsa, Drs. Dan and Stacy Reeder of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Jason, Laura, Dane, Raye and Meg Reeder; three brothers, Glen Reeder and his wife, Aurilla, of Chandler, Jimmy Reeder and his wife, Billie, of Tulsa, Joe Reeder and his wife, Donna, of Hulbert; a sister-in-law, Theo Reeder of Bristow, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
