Mr. Armat first joined the United States Army in July of 1898 as a Pay Clerk. He was promoted to 2nd Lt in June of 1916, and Captain in November of 1917 and Major in May of 1918. He was a Spanish-American War veteran, a Philippine Insurrection veteran and was assigned to Cuba during the American Occupation and Pacification. He was also a World War I veteran. He was awarded the Spanish-American War Service medal, the Philippine Insurrection Campaign medal, the Cuban Occupation medal, the Cuban Pacification medal, the World War I Victory medal and the District of Columbia World War I Service medal.
