Mrs. Sharum's funeral Friday
Services for Mrs. Jennie Sharum, 65, of 5712 Will Rogers road, will be 4 p.m. Friday in Hunter funeral home, with burial in Sunny Lane cemetery.
Mrs. Sharum, the mother of 11 children and grandmother of 57 others, died Monday night in Capitol Hill hospital.
She was born in Washington county; Kan., and came to Clinton, Okla., in 1902. She and her husband James E. Sharum, had lived here since 1907.
Mrs. Sharum belonged to the Capitol Hill Church of God.
Besides her husband, she is survived by six sons, Leonard Sharum, Ada; Ralph, Roy and James Sharum jr., all of Oklahoma City; Boyd Sharum, Oakland Calif., and Alvin Sharum, stationed on Okinawa with the marines.
Also five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Dodson, Mrs. Edith Smith, and Mrs. Ruby Wood, all of the city; Mrs. May Smith, of Tulsa, and Miss Betty Sharum, of Enid survive.

Jennie Bowles was born September 5, 1890, at Albia, Kansas (Washington County), daughter of William Bennett Bowles and Susan Bracket Newcomb.
On May 29, 1907 at Grant, Oklahoma, Jennie married James Elias Sharum Sr. was born June 15, 1888, at Shoals, Indiana (Martin County), son of Stephen Austin Sharum and Nancy Ann Salmon. James had moved with his parents to Grapevine, Texas in about 1891.
Parent's William Bennett Bowles and Susan Bracket were married on May 11 1876.

Jennie and James had 13 children: Leonard Elijah Sharum, born February 19, 1908; Viola Ruth Sharum, born November 7, 1909; Elsie Mae Sharum, born May 1, 1911; Lillie Edith Sharum, born December 3, 1912; William Austin Ralph Sharum, born December 15, 1913; Florence Alice Sharum, born December 31, 1914; Willard Sharum, born January 2, 1916; Roy Cecil Sharum, born September 5, 1919; James Elias Sharum, Jr., born June 10, 1922; Ruby Juanita Sharum, born May 31, 1924; Boyd Sharum, born June 8, 1926; Betty Jean Sharum, born March 29, 1930; and Alvin Paulson Sharum, born October 13, 1932.
The 1920 Federal Census for Oklahoma City Ward 2, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County) shows James Sharum, a farm laborer, age 31, born in Indiana; and his wife, Jennie, age 29, born in Kansas. Also living in the household were Ralph's siblings: Leonard, age 11; Ruth, age 10; May, age 8; Edith, age 7; Ralph, age 6; and Adam, age 5; all born in Oklahoma.
The 1930 Federal Census for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County) shows James E. Sharum, a carpenter contractor, age 42, born in Indiana; and his wife, Jennie, age 39, born in Kansas. Living with them were six children: Ralph Sharum, age 16; Roy, age 9; James E. Jr., age 7; Ruby, age 5; Boyd, age 3; and Betty J., age 0; all born in Oklahoma.
James Elias Sharum was a farmer in his early life and was also engaged in the buying and selling of livestock. He also did some carpenter work from time to time. He left the farm in the early 1920's and became a residential building contractor. He taught all of his sons the trade.
Jennie died January 23, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County) and was buried there in Sunnylane Cemetery. James Elias died February 1, 1967 in Oklahoma City and was buried beside his wife.
