Danny arrived March 2, 1958, in Salida Hospital joining his parents Larry and Priscilla (Gregg) Knight and older brother, Butch.
He was a member of the 1974 state championship football team at Salida High School. He graduated from this school in 1976 and went on to attend the University of Southern Colorado and University of Northern Colorado.
Danny was a track star at the University of Northern Colorado and graduated with a degree in business administration in 1980. In 1987 he became a partner with his father in Knight & Sons Construction Co.
He became the owner and operator of the business in 1995. Since then, he turned the company from a father-son business into one employing 25 people. He was married Aug. 6, 1994 at Temple Baptist Church, Salida. He had no children.
Mr. Knight was was active in many areas of the community including membership in:

Danny loved riding his Harley and was proud of his third place finish in the World Cup Snowmobile race in the 800 modified class. He loved life and was quite a story teller. He enjoyed hunting and various activities with his family.
Danny Mark Knight died Jan. 24, 2009, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, Chaffee County, Colorado, at the age of 50, from a heart attack.
Memorial service were held on Saturday, January 31, 2009, in John Held Auditorium at Salida High School.
Arrangements were made by Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
