Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10 at the Starbuck Funeral Chapel in Merkel with the Rev. T. C. Melton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
She was born on Sept. 10 1933 in Corpus Christi to Eugene Willis and Louise Grover Herring. She attended school at Noodle. She also worked at Phillips Petroleum in security and at Hendrick Medical Center in admissions for 12 years. She married a. e. Fortune on Sep. 10, 1993 in Abilene. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, A. E. Fortune of Sweetwater; four daughters, Christy Ordonez of Sweeney, Paula Family and husband Bubba of Church Hill, Melony Bruegel and husband Jeff of Brazoria, Lee Ann Mansel and husband Ernie of Old Ocean; one son, Phillip Burleson and wife Cindy of Whittier, California; three step-sons, Kerry Fortune and wife Elaine of Anson, Wayne Fortune of Longview, Ray Fortune and wife Carla of Crowley; two step-daughters, Rebecca Martin and husband Joyce of Sweetwater, Mary Dunn and husband Tom of Cross Plains; two brothers, Jimmy Herring and wife Betty of Lafayette, La., Rickey Herring and wife Marilyn of Victoria; four sisters, Erma Taylor of Fort Worth, Betty McBay and husband Bill of Garland, Rutha Miller of Abilene, Patsy Thompson and husband Jason of Potosi; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Burleson; her parents, Bill and Louise Herring; and a brother, E. W. Herring.
