STREATOR — Betty L. Paxson, 79, of Streator, died at 8:04 a.m. Monday, March 1, at her home.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Elias Funeral Home in Streator. The Rev. Bill Niebuhr will officiate and also conduct graveside services at Riverview Cemetery in Streator. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
Born May 18, 1930, in Leeds, Ill., she was the daughter of Raymond and Cloia (Hallam) Melrose. She married Russell Paxson on Dec. 23, 1977, who survives. She was formerly married to Frederick L. Augustine.
She is survived by a son, Joe Augustine of Streator; daughters, Linda (Bill) O'Brien of Joliet and Ava (James) Bailey of Chenona; stepsons, Dean (Michelle) Paxson of Tacoma, Wash., and Dale Paxson of Chicago; and stepdaughter, Dorann (Ron) Plequin of Tuscon, Ariz. She also is survived by grandchildren, Jennifer K. Flowers, Brian J. Leonard, Mark J. Bailey, Kerri A. Powers, Brooke L. Bailey, Daniel L. Bailey, Jason Augustine, Angela Angelico, Anthony Augustine, Andrew Augustine and Keenan Anderson; 18 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Dawn Augustine of Streator; her half brother, Alan Nelson of Louisville, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Augustine of Streator, who died in 2004.
She was formerly employed at Sunstar Foods and The Times-Press in Streator.
