John Harry Williams, 81, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Morningside Assisted Living. Graveside services with full military honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery with Dr. Tony Dickerson officiating, according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. Mr. Williams was born November 18, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, PA son of the late Harry T. and Marion Palmer Williams. After retiring from the U.S. Army, he worked as a Purchasing agent for Jordan Supply in Columbus, GA. Then he was self-employed as a locksmith. He was also a member of Pinehurst Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Stinson Williams. Survivors include his sons, Richard Williams (Thea) of Cataula, GA, Guy Williams (Judith) of Kansas, Paul Williams (Weena) of Maryland and Mark Williams (Marjorie) of Columbus, GA; brothers, Ken Williams (Clara) and Walter Williams (Delores); sister, Lois Copper all of Wilkes-Barre, PA; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
